With gifted singer-songwriter Denison Witmer performing tonight at Maine’s Kennebunk Coffeehouse, we bring you a somewhat dated, slightly out-of-sync, but no-less-relevant video.
Set to Witmer’s song “Little Flowers,” the video highlights the work of Invisible Children, a nonprofit that uses film, creativity and social action to end the use of child soldiers in Joseph Kony’s rebel war and restore northern Uganda to peace and prosperity.
Witmer, whose resonant songs ring with authenticity, weaves within his work acts of compassion. In addition to his support of Invisible Children, he dedicates his birthday to raising funds for Partners in Health and Musicians On Call. Witmer makes available free songs, podcasts and stories, asking for a goodwill exchange of donations to the charities.
Boston-based Partners in Health provides a preferential option for the poor in health care, while Musicians On Call brings live and recorded music to the bedsides of patients in healthcare facilities.
